About Reviewzee - Meet Guzee

Reviewzee

The purpose of this site is really just a place to have a bit of fun writing reviews on things I’ve watched or played. Everything here is my personal opinion. Which means if you agree, cool. If you disagree, also cool. It’s awesome that we can all have our own opinions. That’s what makes life fun, and the reason the first iteration of the Matrix failed. Because there is no magic utopia where everyone sings kumbaya and agrees on everything.

I want to make this site accessible for everyone. Thus, the plan is that the top part of every review will be pretty spoiler free. I’ll go into bits and pieces of the film, especially the parts that happen immediately at the start as that is what lines up the movie.. unless it’s TENET, in which case I guess the beginning spoils it since it’s really the end? I have no idea, I’m still trying to figure that movie out.

Anyway.. after the main part of the article I’ll give a nice little leadway for the spoiler section to really break down the thoughts on the movie. This is a spot that allows me to really go into what I think, how I interpreted it, etc.

Think of the layout, if you wish, as the top is my sales pitch, the bottom is after you drank it.

Scoring

Each review will have my score just under the Spoiler Free section. Because I hate star ratings or people trying to say “This was a 7.2 / 10” (seriously, just use whole numbers. I mean what is the difference between a 7.1 and a 7.2 really), my scoring will be very simple. I got two thumbs. I’m using that.. kind of.

Each review gets a score out of 2, themed to something from the movie itself. Then the score is delivered in thumbs up / thumbs down style. Maybe it’s 1 up. Maybe it’s 2 down.

Me

Over 20 years ago I ran a website which I suppose was similar to this. Something that sat between blogs and reviews of various media. The page on the entire site that drew the most hits was… my Snapple real facts page. I drank a lot of Snapple, accumulated a lot of facts.

I no longer drink Snapple.

As for who I am: Online I’m known as Guzee. And since this website coincidentally happens to be online, that’s what I’ll call myself here as well. I’m a mid-40’s guy who isn’t even a cinephile. I’m rarely there for opening weekend of a movie. There’s so many movies people say “How have you not watched that?” Because I’m too lazy to get off the couch, and largely just dealing with people sucks. In reality, that might make my reviews even more relatable. I’m not someone who takes pride in knowing the ups and downs and lefts and rights of the industry, or someone who even has to see something while it’s in theaters (with a few exceptions). I watch something and either I have fun or I don’t. Example? Suicide Squad. Not a particularly good movie. But I still had fun with it. And that’s what I watch movies, TV, wrestling, play games for. Fun. Not so I can be a snide uppity asshole about why my opinion is the right one.

I prefer comedies. I like “dark” and “weird”. Horror is more fun when it tries to be psychological. I enjoy being anxious when watching something. I enjoy explosions. I’m a Disney guy. But not at a weird level. My girlfriend yells at me that I’ve watched maybe 10% of all their stuff. I also may have a strong affinity for woodland creatures and thus Chip and Dale is the best property in the Disney banner, with the Muppets very closely behind it.

I don’t like anime or musicals.

My playlist is primarily 80’s rock, 90’s grunge, and 2000’s post-hardcore-punk. Ripping to Queen and Elton John is equally as satisfying as Metallica or New Found Glory.

I’ve been a wrestling fan for basically as long as I can remember. I think my introduction to it was “No Holds Barred, The Movie.” Shit. Now I probably need to write a review for that. Over the years I’ve been to some incredible shows, and some absolute shit shows. Eg: Royal Rumble 2020. Amazing. Raw 25. Awful.

At this point I’m rambling in as much as you can while you type. It’s cool that you decided that you cared enough about this site to click on the About page and learn more about me and my mission. Legitimately, thanks for checking out the site.

Be excellent to each other.

Two puffins squawking at each other over the failures of Matrix Resurrections.

So I says “The reason Matrix Resurrections was an abject failure was because while it attempted to be a meta commentary on the film-making industry, it instead was everything it was making fun of.”
