Monday Night Raw - August 10, 2026

It’s Monday! And Raw kicks off with a recap of Roman and the family from last week.

Keys is announced as being out indefinitely. I’m glad Vince is gone because he’d have made Cole say “Anal Bleeding”. But maybe only because Booker isn’t around for a “WHAT?” response.

Segment: Solo Sikoa and Jey Uso

Solo kicks us off live by coming through the crowd singing “It’s just me Uce”. This guy is legit hilarious, charisma off the charts. Loving him dancing around to Jey’s music as he comes from the back. Solo has been on the main roster for years now, and it’s great to see him get recognition. I’m hoping this leads to a real push for him. Jey is in this weird place. The crowd continues treating him like a face, still asking him to run it back, yeeting as he comes out. But meanwhile he’s back to being a moody lackey for Roman. We’re getting Jey versus Solo tonight, with the condition that if Jey wins, Solo joins the bloodline. If Solo wins, the family leaves him alone. Solo has said for months (or if you want to go as far back as Raw last year when he lost the Ula Falla to Roman) that he’s done with the Bloodline. I’m hoping for a Solo win here to finally end this story and so Solo can go do his own thing. The pessimist in me says that with Survivor Series a few months away, they might want to put Solo back with Roman in a Sami-adjacent role to round out the team.

We come back to Jey in the back approaching Jimmy and Jacob. There’s a lot of tension between Jacob and Jey, and I think it’s interesting but have no idea where they can go. Jacob should be out of the Bloodline because he’s too over to be a lackey. But they’re showing him being way too loyal to Roman. Jey is over enough to be a face on his own without Roman, but they’re also showing his loyalty.

Match 1: Penta versus Loredo Kid - Round 1 match, World Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender Tournament

The winner will face the winner of Psycho Clown versus La Parka. I love the Lucha style. Lucha tag is my favorite wrestling style - but unfortunately WWE won’t be willing to adopt that on their roster. I don’t watch much AAA but what I have watched it looks like they don’t follow traditional Lucha tag rules only. Either way, the winner of this (who I’m picking as Penta) versus Psycho Clown or La Parka will should be a banger. I wasn’t a big fan of Penta in AEW, but he’s grown on me a ton in WWE. In AEW, he just spammed his “CERO MIEDO” taunt like he was trying to get his finisher bar maxed in WWE 2K. I will concede I do miss Alex Abrahentes catching Penta’s glove though when he’d toss it.

Unfortunately Netflix is giving me problems so I missed several minutes of the match. What I saw was what you’d expect from Penta. Awesome. I see him taking this entire tournament and facing Roman in Mexico in September on Raw.

Segment: We get the Vision in the back with Byron Saxton. Logan has the elbow brace off. I suppose that means he’ll be back in action soon. Bron is angrily staring off into space. He knows he’s been passed over for Oba, and he’s about to ignite like a rocket. I can’t lie, I would hope that he turns on The Vision. I don’t want Oba and Bron crossing paths yet. Save that for WrestleMania 44. Hell, have Bron win that and now you have two new top guys.

Anyone else see the Kam Hendrix and Mason Rook beef of Twitter? Kam saying Mason looks like he should be working at McD’s. Rook saying he has a chair for Kam. I have no idea if it’s a work or if they’re legit beefing but it’s great.

Match 2: Austin Theory (with the rest of the Vision) versus Tozawa

Logan comes out with the elbow brace. So is he going to lose it here and “surprisingly” return to action? What’s the point of having it off in the back but on near the ring if he’s not actually wrestling? I will give him kudos for traveling with the WWE the entire time while injured. Wait, did Corey just say Theory is going to show Tozawa what the extra chair is for? Are they now inferring Tozawa also was in love with Maxxine? For the record, I rewound during the commercial and that’s exactly what Corey said. So Otis and Tozawa were both in love with their valet? And they managed to hide it for years? Sure, ok, whatever. Maxxine just get the chair out for Kam. But Pearce broke it up.

Winner: Theory via pinfall after a forearm

Who was it that said “Business is about to pick up”? because Oba is coming out to confront Bron. Oba is showing that if you want to find him, just say his name and he’ll appear. Wait, that’s someone else’s gimmick…

Basically every producer and ref comes out from the back to keep them separated. And I think that’s the right move.

Segment: Cathy Kelley is in the back to interview Rey Mysterio. And this sets up Dominik versus Dragon Lee for later tonight after Dom complains that as the AAA Champion he doesn’t even get a shot at the tournament. Rey says that he didn’t think he’d want another handout since that’s what made him such a jackass… so is Rey saying he was a bad father after all? One that just gave his son everything and never made him earn it, which caused Dom to never appreciate needing to work for something on his own?

Segment: Stephanie Vaquer

I suspect Becky will take part of this segment as well. There’s some contention there over who should be challenging Liv next.

I’ve always hated that every Spanish speaking wrestler has to cut their promos multilingual. This is not me being against Spanish fans being able to understand the promo’s. Everyone deserves to enjoy wrestling. It’s for everyone. What irks me about it is that other nationalities don’t do this. When Jinder was champ, he didn’t cut his promos in English and whichever Indian language he’d align with. Shinsuke cuts his in Japanese, as is Asuka. It’s just a weird thing that it seems to be Spanish speakers that do this. Also to note - if you’re watching it in another country, their commentators will live translate the promo with the wrestler mic turned way down.

As expected, here comes Becky. I said it last week and I’ll say it every week. Becky is in my opinion the women’s GOAT.

With that face-to-face I was worried Liv was going to hit either of them in the back causing them to bonks heads.

Overall I enjoyed this enough. I’m liking that Becky is basically face but now just an asshole to the heels too. I want her to win the belt back, but that’s bias speaking.

Segment: Knight is in the back and honestly, his character is so whiny. He’s complaining about the Roman Reigns tournament even thought it’s a AAA tournament. Solo wants Knight to have his back and I get it - but can we please move on from Knight versus Bloodline? Once they ultimately have their match, I hope that’s the end because Knight needs something else to do.

Match 3: Dominik Mysterio versus Dragon Lee

Dom is another guy that should be higher up the card. They’ve completely stalled on him. He’s worse off than he has been at any point in the past few years. He was the IC champ, beating Cena, tag champ, feuding with Finn; and now he’s doing the favor for Danhausen and losing Dragon Lee who has really never been high up on the card himself. This was a fine match but not worth getting invested in. There was zero chance of Dom taking the win from Dragon Lee who was in the tournament… although I suppose in hindsight they could have had Dom beat Lee, then demand his spot in the tournament. That would have been interesting. A little too interesting.

Winner: Dragon Lee via pinfall after Operation Dragon

After the match Cass comes out and takes out Dragon Lee this time. Evans comes out as Cass mogs and takes the fight to him and gets beaten down for his trouble as well. I said last week I enjoyed Cass’ promo but… where’s Enzo?

Segment: We get Sol in the back It looks like her ear is tattooed which is something I’ve never seen before. Danhausen offers his services as Sol’s mystery partner. She declines. And now the world is Sadhausen.

Segment: We get Knight complaining still. Pearce confirms that the winner of the tournament won’t win the belt as he tells Knight that they’ll work to get him the number 1 contender spot after the tournament. Even though Roman is the guy in his sightlines.

Match 4: Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez versus Sol Ruca & A Mystery Opponent

And Sol’s mystery partner is… Iyo Sky. Whenever they tease a mystery partner or opponent I always get my hopes up. Something along the lines of “a new signing” or “Oh a return” or “a call-up”. And every time I get disappointed.

Iyo may be the best in-ring woman in WWE right now. But it’s still a disappointment when she’s on TV every week. I was hoping this segment would intertwine with the Stephanie and Becky promo earlier and that one of them would be the mystery partner. That Perez splash to the outside was awful. Just so badly timed by everyone. I’m sure it’s difficult to tell when you’re in the ring going through your spots, but as a watcher I wish they would say “this is mistimed, let’s change this up because it’s going to look bad.”

Not much to say. A fine match. Sol’s pop-rox reversal was awesome to see though.

Winner: Sol Ruca & Iyo Sky via pinfall after Sol Snatcher

Why does every woman have to have their moves named after them? ObLIVion, Sol Snatcher, Pop-Rox, Bexsploder, etc.

Segment: Bron approaches Heyman in the back. As normal, Heyman is being slimy, avoiding answering Bron’s question on if he thinks Oba is the future. Now here’s the question, is Heyman sending a sheep to the slaughter? Or does he think Bron stands a chance?

Segment: Gable offers Rey a shot at the IC title. Rey accepts. We also see Penta without facepaint which sure is disconcerting. Dragon Lee will fight El Hijo De Dr. Wagner Jr next week and that is going to be a certified banger. If you haven’t seen El Hijo yet, you’re in for a treat.

Segment: We get Lyra confronting Sol and Iyo. Here’s my hot take that people won’t agree with. I don’t see “it” in Lyra. She’s never been hot on the mic, and she’s only moderately OK in the ring. She’s sloppy and can’t adjust on the fly (yes, I am referring to the Becky match with the handcuffs). That said, this heel turn is the most interested I’ve been in her so far. She seems more natural. Looks like we’re going to get a Lyra and Sol match in the near future.

Match 5: Jey Iso versus Solo Sikoa - If Jey wins, Solo is back in the Bloodline

Jey Uso is for the children. Even as a heel he’s out there yeeting with the kids. I saw a video some time either this year or last year about how Jey produces his own entrances. He tells the cameraman he’s working with where he’s going to be stopping and what kids he wants focused on. Again. Jey Uso is for the children.

Earlier Jey was saying he was changing Solo’s diapers. Jey is 6 and some-years older than Solo. I wonder if that’s legit. Like, 6 seems young to be changing diapers. But also Rikishi would have been on the road regularly so it wouldn’t be crazy that Jimmy and Jey were helping momma Uce out.

Jey wins. Just why?

Final Thoughts

What does this loss do for Solo? He’s getting over as a face so keep him in the bloodline fold? What has that done for Jacob? I really can’t stress how disappointed I am in this decision. And yes, Jacob is still insanely over but he’s turned into another Roman sycophant. He does nothing for himself. And hasn’t had anything meaningful since losing to Roman earlier this year. Why should I expect that Solo does much of anything now that he’s again part of the Bloodline?

Knight is super over and I wonder how long WWE can keep it up. It’s not diminishing, but they’re doing nothing with him except making him complain about his spot.

Although WWE hasn’t done a draft in a few years now, I appreciate how they handle the roster moves. It feels a bit more organic. Stuff like trades between brands and soft moves. Things stay fresh and it’s not at a matter of “Well we can only move someone because it’s April”.

My Bron stocks are up. Again, it unfortunately looks like Oba and him are headed for a crash course. Bron can’t really take a loss right now, and with Oba making a bee-line for the top titles he shouldn’t be taking a loss either. I’m really hoping that I get swerved and Bron’s way to prove that he’s the future is to take out The Vision knowing they’re keeping him from doing anything else right now. I know, I’ve parroted this point enough - but I just really don’t want to see Oba and Bron fighting yet.

Is Danhausen the only guy regularly doing both shows? They know that struck pay dirt with him. And the crowd isn’t tiring out so why not keep using him if he keeps getting pops?

On the SmackDown side, and I’ve mentioned this before but to reiterate - I don’t have USA so I don’t watch it. I keep up best I can off YouTube. I’m excited for Punk and KO. I’m hoping this leads to a Punk heel turn. After what KO had to go through to come back, I don’t see the crowd booing him any time soon.

Chelsea got injured which sucks. I hope she heals up quickly. On the bright side, if Liv can go 100 days without a defense I don’t see any reason why Chelsea can’t either. Although I would definitely laugh if they moved to an Interim Interim champion. It’s Interim belts all the way down.

Tatum got called up. I’m not very familiar with her since I don’t watch NXT either. But pairing her with Alexa and Charlotte, two vets who by now have done it all, is great for her to learn on the move.

I think I read that Corbin will be fighting Carmelo for the US title? It seems like his feud with Trick isn’t through. I predicated in my SummerSlam predictions post that Trick would win at SummerSlam to lead to a three-way between them for the US Title. Although Corbin took the belt, I’m still holding on to hope for it.

Overall, the ending of Raw really took the wind out of my sails. Raw is fine as it was, but that just knocked it down a peg for me. What did you think?
